Preserving the preceding things from history is a duty for human being for new generations. Because, history and past things provide new generations with enlightening and leading the way as a guide. In that way, the protecting ancient buildings which bring the information about the past, is very important. Sometimes, the preserving history needs serious budgets and efforts. However, foundations and countries cannot always compensate that budget. There are several factors are Irregular urbanization, neglecting, natural disasters, effect of time on buildings and profiting from historical things. These things have a bad effect on the protecting the pass things. Considering the facts that the ancient buildings which have to be preserved and have an important priority cannot be neglected. Historical specifications and esthetic features are considered in the determining of building’s priority.

There are many buildings which are should be protected because of their historical value in turkey which is very rich country with regard to social and cultural history. A place where historical ruins of an ancient city site and historical buildings in Anatolia and İstanbul are protected by the preservation ordinance. In general, these preservation ordinances aren’t practice appropriately during system. If we protect this buildings by only consider architectural and historical qualification and we ignore its own environmental texture, we damage location’s history and culture. Perception of this culture as it contains only buildings and disregard to creator of buildings and who people lived in there, dissipating of inhabitants’ collective memories should not accepted as accomplished restoration and protection. Environments which have cultural and historical value like Balat, Kuzguncuk, Sulukule (some of historical district in İstanbul) not only protect with only their valuable buildings but also conserve with their inhabitants’ social and cultural life. So that we can transfer to new generation with successful conservation and also give an opportunity to proceed “neighborhood concept” which has significant part in İstanbul’s nostalgic life.

In conclusion, ancient buildings and city structures consist of countries’ social structures, economy and technology. These things must accommodate to the contemporary architecture for continuity of collective memory. Thus, restoration can reach main purpose.
